Added Features/Improvements

  • Reports Improvement
    • Print friendly pages available now for all screen reports

  • The Home Page Link widget for the main menu now works on non-domain websites (during construction)

    • All PayPal related processes now conform to PayPal's requirement for HTTP 1.1 compatibility

  • Primary Club data in networks was not being saved correctly in some circustances
    • Primary club data is now accurate in all cicumstances
    • Activation of previously inactive records now always occurs at the same time if needed
  • Primary Club data not working for users in new registration process
    • As above, issues now fully resolved

Added Features

  • Improved image processing
    • The quality of all versions of images processed using the image upload system has now been greatly improved
    • Smaller images are far sharper without having a larger file size
    • Exisiting images can be improved by using the "Resize Images" feature in the Content Manager
    • No need to resize, just run the process to improved thumbnail image quality
  • Email Text Templates now available to systems without the Content Manager Module
    • Previously the Content Manager Module was needed to be able to use an Email Content Template
    • Now add and access these content templates directly through the Database Manager area
    • For Networks, the Network leader can now share an Email Content Template with the whole network

Bug Fixes

  • Bug in newly created Membership processing systems for Network membership sales
    • Memberships and Shopping Baskets now record correct values under all circumstances
    • Better error checking now informs users better of things that may go wrong

Bug Fixes

  • When a product with a color/style option was saved in a cart before another product without a color/style option, the options from the first product would be copied into the second,
    • Options now only apply themsleves to the correct products
  • When checking for duplicates in a database under a Smartspace project, the request (a transfer) selection would sometimes not show at it should
    • It is now available when it should be
  • The mobile diversion enabled for website with mobile modules was buggy and actviated at times when it should not have and also  would not recognise preferred selections in some cicumstances
    • Mobile diversion now works as it should

    • An improved content Search feature can now be enabled through content categories
      • Select either a search on a the specific category or all content

    • Product downloads can be made available in your e-store within product categories that allow downloads

    • Plenty of error checking built in to ensure downloads that don't work triggers notification to the website owner
    • Configure how long the download link lasts after payment
    • Download file itself cannot be accessed using a public website url
  • Improved Image Selection
    • Image selection is many parts of the website is now greatly improved
      • Click the image preview link just below the image list to view previews of all images
      • Click on a preview to make that selection in the image list
      • Image list fields which do not have the image preview feature will be upgraded soon
  • Improved Email Template Selection
    • Email Template selection is now semi automated
      • Instead of having to cut and paste email template text into your email, you can now review and select
      • Click on the "Add Text" link in the preview area, and the text gets automatically added to the email text field
  • Mobile Module Features
    • Image galleries are now available
      •  A simple preview and selection mechanism manages the online galleries
      • Start browsing at any selected image
      • Click to scroll through or swipe (in enabled devices)
    • Background images for content is now enabled
      • Add images to content in the same way as the desktop system
    • Better framework structure enables more flexible styling of content pages
  • Membership Module Improvements
    • You can now program introductory offers into membership types
      • Add an offer for someone who has not previously had one of your memberships
      • Program when it starts, how long the offer lasts and what prices apply
    • Program when you can renew your membership relative to when the renewal date is
      • Previously this period was hard coded, now totally flexible
    • Deactivate membership options without deleting them
      • This enables options data not to be lost if options change over time
  • Social Links Features
    • Social links can now be added to blogs
    • Add social links into content via placeholders (see above)
    • Open social links into a new browser window or the same window
  • Groups Development
    • Creation of associated nomination records can now be semi automated
      • Attach a previously created nomination record to a Groups Instance as a template
      • Some basic details such as dates get changed but baisc format remains
    • Enable  tickets to be printed when using the nomination processing feature
      • Ticket link is sent to buyer upon payment

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Content Subcategories in the Mobile Module were not showing in the correct format
    • Subcategories now rendering as configured
  • Service Rules content category Save/Edit (in the Database Manager only) was not saving.
    • All new posts now save as expected
  • PayPal payments were not automatically processing correctly at the Smartspace end after payment
    • PayPal processing now trigger back end processing of Smartspace accounts  as normal
  • Problem saving new price codes in some circumstances
    • All price codes now appear to be processing normally
  • Archive links in some Framework panels were not appearing as requested.
    • The Archive controller in the Framework manager was not saving input
    • Input is now being saved correctly
    • A number of the panels have been checked to ensure the archive link only appears as programmed
    • Please advise if panels you have in place are not showing archive links as required
  • In some circumstances, Album URLs with page names were not being generated as required
    • All Album pagename issues seem to have been resolved
  • IE8 Ajax Problem Solved
    • Processing of the CKEditor fields (text editor) were not processing in IE8 when AJAX processing was involved
    • A fix has been imlemented to ensure changes are recorded
  • Disounts for Items with multiple discount configurations now working
    • When a product or service has more than 1 discount involved the most speciofic discount is the one used
    • eg, If a category of services has a discount and one of those services has another discount, the discount for the service itself is the one used
  • Improved PayPal buttons
    • Positioning and Code of PayPal buttons has been improved for easier integration of paypal into the style of your website

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Content category archive was not showing all posts in one situation when logged in as user
  • Query has been re written and problem is now overcome
  • A bug in Reservations management has been fixed - recording of special entry data now working as expected

  • New Content Category configuration
    • Content category archives can now be ordered by published descending (as well as modified descending)
    • Extra selections for Associated Menu is available - now you can use an auto previous/next links for content pages
    • A new  Title - Date - Article preview archive format now available
    • Order blog archive by month descending now available
  • New features for Groups Module
    • Additional view for groups listings now available - view all groups within a Category , categorised by instances
      • A new widget is available to create a menu item for this view
      • Other widgets have been reviewed for better rendering
      • Additional Instance view has been created for both Main Menu and Content Panels
    • Online Group Entry styles now expanded
      • Simple online Group entry can now process multiple selections through the Business Services Category Type
    • Reservations system has been improved
      • Reservations can be created automatically  when saving instances
      • A default template based on a previously created reservation can be set for all instances in a category

      • Improved handling of reservation records including better updating and deleting of records and associated recording of account details
      • Ticketing can now be activated within the reservation system
      • A Ticket can be produced upon payment of entry fee

      • Administrators can now go through the ordinary users process when buying a ticket in website view

      • Ordering can override date based ordering so be careful!
      • Date based ordering is still used as default if no additional number based ordering is used
    • Archiving Selections now should all work as expected (for public display)
      • Previously, not all Archiving selections were fully enabled
  • A New Framework - Corporate Communications - has been created
  • Additional panel added to Simple Store framework
    • An addition standard content panel has been added to the left hand column under other existing panels
    • This panel can be activated by reselecting the Simplestore framework and resaving before configuration
  • New Video Help Category for Smartspace Users
    • The Smartspace HQ website now has an additional help file category
    • In response to support questions we are now creating a Video help library based on support requests
    • We create a quick Jing for some users and now are saving them into this content category
    • Find the link as a submenu item under System Help in the Main Menu

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Problems with duplicate management window have been solved
    • Window now always appears fully in the page
  • Groups Listing widget was not working properly
    • Category listing of Category type now works as expected in Main Menu
  • Product Management bug fixed
    • Recent changes to the Groups to improve performance caused an unexpected bug in Products management - now fixed

  • Place Form Title  for Custom Contact From in content panels
    • Previously only panel title was enabled
  • Force Address fields when registering in database
    • The Individual Registration Form can can force entry in address fields
    • Other processing has been improved for more reliable performance

Bug Fixes

  • In some cases, the header image for article pages was not appearing when other images were attached
    • Header image now always appears
  • The Processing overlay panel for checking duplicates was being adversely affected by other styling so that the close link was out of reach
    • Styling has been adjusted and the Close icon moved to ensure it now works as it should
  • Another apostrophe field has been found - this time in the groups > division lists area - now fixed
  • Fixes for Networks
    • Groups division list by clubs was not coming up as expected in networked records
      • Club lists now appear when expected
    • Entry into an event could be cancelled, even when teams existed
      • The No Entry box can only be ticked when no teams are available
    • When submitting and processing entries through the Shopping Basket, payment settings were being mixed up between club and association
      • Now the correct values appear when processing through the basket
    • Payment Management icon was missing for Instances where Instances were managed by clubs and not the Association
      • Icon now appears to the managing entity and no one else
    • Team names in the Combined Team Entry view could not be successfully edited
      • Can now be edited as expected
  • Some report format combinations were not working accurately
    • Reports from network activities in groups were not showing accurate results in some circumstances - show people outside the club
      • Now filtering accurately
    • Stat Report by Gender format combined with individual grouping were showing incorrect details (accurate numbers)
      • Report now produces accurate results
  • Filtering on Group Divisions in public group listings was not working to filter after Page Speed optimisation
  • Javascript files were being loaded after js function calls
    • Now waits until all js is loaded before function call

Improvements and New Features

  • New Content Panel widget added
    • Content - Article Preview now returns the preview field of the article in question
    • Can be used on the home page or on content pages
  • Small improvements in Groups
  • Groups Instance > Network Message (only for networks) expanded
    • Now add normal article amount of text (up from 250 chars)
  • Booking Systems Improved
    • Booking sheet now fully integrated with custom website frameworks
  • Page Speed improved
    • Most Javascript files and now being loaded at the end of the page load to prevent blocking by slow loading files
  • Transfer Images between Albums
    • Images can now be transferred between albums using the image edit icon
    • Simply change the album listing in the form and update
    • Image URLs do not change so no other changes are need to ensure images appear as they should

Bug Fixes

  • Framework preview not using domain version of css file for webfonts
    • Incorrect Content Preferences were being obtained - now the correct data is used
  • Framework Feature (text over image) was not using framework settings - now all settings work
  • Delete Pending Memberships through reports is now working
    • Previously the selection was missing in the relevant report
  • Groups listing display showed a blank page when no groups were available
    • Now a short message is shown with some navigation back to other selections
  • A portion of the Group Category menu was missing and did not work in IE8
    • There was a malformed tag in the menu html which was breaking the menu in this browser although it was working ok with the later versions of popular browsers
  • Inventory Bug
    • When an item is recorded in the cart more than one times, it was only checking against the current inventory for each item in the cart, not against the progressive stock amount
    • Also, the total cost of the cart item was not being adjusted when inventory was reducing the quantity field
    • Inventory is now adjusted for every item in the basket and adjusts quantities accordingly and total cost is also adjusted correctly
  • New Group Id search caused a problem for some groups which were created under an instance from another website (in the case of clubs under sporting associations)
    • Search logic now adjusted to account for these situations

Improvements and New Features

  • New Version of the text editor now in use
    • The latest version of CKEditor, the Smartspace text formatting tool has been installed
    • In addition to this being the fastest and most complete version of CKEditor, two extra significant features are now available
    • Undo and Redo buttons are now available and functional
    • A full screen button now will toggle the editor to a full screen and back to normal size
    • There have been other improvements to the system, including the ability to insert the cursor in what was previously inaccessible spaces - often associated with the creation of tables
    • More functions will be enabled over the coming months
  • SEO and Inbound Marketing Services now available
    • Smartspace now provides paid services in this area
    • Reduced rates for Smartspace customers
    • More information soon!
  • All agreements are now recorded
    • Previously, the terms and conditions of sale, if attached to a cart or other transaction in Smartspace, acted as a barrier to those who would not tick the Agree box
    • No further action took place to record that agreement
    • Now, the following items are saved whenever anyone progresses past the Agree box and proceeds with a sale or other action:
      • Date and time of agreement
      • The person who has agreed with the terms and conditions
      • The text of the terms and conditions
      • The transaction Id (if a sale)
      • The type of agreement (eg Membership, sale etc)
      • Your website Id
    • It is important to note that this process only occurs when a Service Agreement article is attached to your process in the appropriate settings form
  • Improvements In Contact Forms
    • The form instruction now accepts more than 250 characters of text
    • It is advised that you keep your form instruction as concise as possible
  • New Features in Groups Management
    • Search for a Group using a Group Id in the Group Management window
    • Simply insert the Group Id that you want to manage and go directly to that group (as long as it is your group)
    • Jobs Category Type now can be saved with a Division List
    • You can use the Division List value to filter the Job groups available on the public website
    • New Groups interface now shows groups in a better order
      • Deactivated groups are shown last
      • Groups are ordered by Group Name
    • Greater specialisation is now available for Classes Category Type
      • Each Group can now have a Date From and Date To
      • Classes from the same instance are grouped together
      • Users select a Class from the list when joining the Class
    • New Groups Management now default
      • Deprecated version still available as an alternative
      • Action Menu moved higher to expose the whole menu on smaller screens
  • New Feature in Smartmail
    • The Smartspace webmail system (Smartmail) has now added an auto address book to its features
    • Each time you send an email, it saves the email address to all recipients (if not already added previously)
    • When sending mail in future, it uses auto-completion to provide a list of previously used address to save you typing the full address (this plugin previously added)

  • Article Preview Text now available
    • Previously, snippets from Articles were only used as a preview
    • Article Description was also used for some widgets
    • New Preview field is now available and can be used as an article preview  in some widgets
    • New widgets will be added over time
    • Preview field is now used for the Catkiller feature panel
    • Article Description has been copied into the Preview field for all existing users of the panel
  • A new Feature Panel widget is available
    • Preview Over Image places the Preview text from an article over the relevant image with a link to the article
  • Added Filter in Membership Reports
    • Memberships can now be filtered by Processed date (date from and date to)

2013 Plans

Although over 4 years in development in its current state, Smartspace has been in special release during that period. We hope to launch Smartspace officially in March this year.

The main tasks before launch will be:

  • Complete Newsletter module
  • Complete consistent look and feel for all management pages
  • Complete the new version of the Smartspace HQ website aimed specifically at Graphic Designers
  • Further develop Groups Module for all stated group types

After launch we will be concentrating on marketing the system to a wider audience, we hope to complete the following new modules this year

  • Accommodation
  • Team Mates - a social platform for sports enthusiasts - by an associate
  • Sports booking directory
  • HqYou - a social platform for Smartspace users
  • Other specialist directories
