2010 Wrap

We have achieved a considerable amount in 2010, not the least being the completion of the first stage of development of a truly modularised website system.

Whilst progress has been a little slower than hoped for, it has provided the opportunity to improve the quality of the system to to start building in a level of configuration and functionality we had not quite imagined even 12 months ago.

Thanks to all SmartSpace customers for their support and feedback and for their renewals. A special thanks to the graphic designers who have been using SmartSpace, especially Bright Yellow who have provided plenty of inspiration for further development.

2011 will see even greater progress and change. Some of the features which are now on the drawing board will have a huge impact on how the system works and will hopefully bring SmartSpace a far wider market.

December 2010

• Bug Fixes
  • Some bookings times would not appear in the bookings interface correctly - fixed
  • Combined teams interface for groups now generates correct background code(processing was correct and is unaffected )
  • some bugs in cart processing in some obscure situations now fixed
  • Cart - PayPal call-back now fixed and processes correctly

    • Configure which size photo(except full size) appears with any article (when the image is less than 700x700 it may well appear full size anyway as it does not get resized unless it is bigger than the nominal size)
    • A new blog style is now available - Text and Images

    • Configure how the attached images appear in any one article
    • Disable the ability to click on an image and show full size (taking away the "+"  sign disables the ability to click on the image)
    • Where you have to attach images to content, special instructions are now available on the attachment page for that website framework
      
  • New widget in the templates area for content panels - get a content category in the configuration you have set

November 2010

• Added Features
  • "Global" view link in the Customer manager now goes directly to the related page from the Individual view
  • Combined groups in network mode now reports payments status and payment mode
  • Register after sending an email can now be selected
  • Registration process simplified to make it easier to register
  • Status of link panels now more complete in view mode
  • Other changes made to the set up of templates will soon mean much easier and foolproof selections of menu items and content panels
  • Shopping basket now has added features and improvements
    • GST(tax) can now be added to purchases of your home country and no one else
    • Basket is rechecked on each opening (tax may be different depending if you have logged in or not)
    • Changes to delivery charges now mean tax can be added to delivery as required
    • Website owners can now added their own products to shopping baskets if filling orders themselves
    • They can also apply discounts if necessary
• Bug Fixes
  • Team Entry and Payment processing systems bugs fixed - would process incorrectly in some circumstances
  • Empty Text field warning in content editor now removed
  • Image enlarge options in content editor now working properly
  • "Coming Up" programs feature now working properly(was showing current programs)
  • Content Category title had disappeared recently after improving configurability - now ok
  • Recent changes have introduced a bug into "carry forward groups" feature
    • Attaching prior groups to a new instance now works without problems
    • Creating a new instance and adding previous groups also works fully
  • Recent changes in image uploading and management caused a problem in displaying public album records represented by images. The correct sized image will now be shown in all circumstances
  • In rare instances the basket use the quantity of the previous item to calculate total cost of the item - now fixed

October 2010

August 2010

• Bug Fixes
  • Content Category order number was not working in submenus when ordered by modified date, but also carrying an order number. now fixed
  • Subsequent changes to order query resulted in some link panels not showing content - now fixed
  • Problem with alert icons now fixed
• Added Features
  • Added "Unpublish" quick link to content manager summary. Now unpublish articles without having to go into Edit mode
  • Added a "Save as New" selection to the edit screen of content. Simply tick the box to save the old content as a new article and leave the old article unchanged
  • Select an attached images format
    • Either choose the current mini album format which can be scrolled through or
    • Now also select an "image list" where all the images can be listed below each other
      • This may be useful where images are linked to short spans of text
      • Use the div tag - "picsize" to match the height of the text to match the height of the images
    • You can now also choose a powered mini slide show
    • All selection allow the clicking of the images to open a full sized gallery of all images
    • The size of the preview images will vary from template to template
  • The Groups module now opens in the Customer Manager interface
